In Drohobych the vandals desecrated the monument to Pope John Paul II

In Drohobych, Lviv oblast unknown persons on the night of 13 March damaged the monument to Pope John Paul II, which is installed near the entrance to the Church of St. Bartholomew. About this informed the head of the press service of the Main Directorate of the National police in the Lviv region Svetlana Dobrovolskaya.

She noted that the message about the act of vandalism came to the police Department on March 14 from local residents who discovered at the foot of the monument is sawn off from the sculpture’s hand.

On this fact openly criminal proceedings under part 1 of article 296 of the criminal code of Ukraine (Gross violation of public order based on motives of explicit disrespect for society, accompanied by special impudence or exclusive cynicism), which assumes punishment in the form of a fine up to fifty non-taxable minimum incomes, or arrest for up to six months, or restraint of liberty for a term up to three years.

The investigation is being conducted.
