In Chernivtsi sanitary and epidemiological service today banned bathing in the Prut river due to water pollution. As reported by the head of Department of state supervision over compliance with sanitary legislation Natalya Klimchuk, the water in the Prut river near Chernivtsi do not meet sanitary standards for microbiological indicators, and the prohibition of swimming in the river is associated with the risk of getting sick.
«Relative to the rod, then, as in the past year, the water does not meet sanitary requirements. The last time water samples were taken from the rod 25 may and on 1 June the results of laboratory studies have shown that water is contaminated,» said Klimchuk, UNIAN reports.
«On water quality, primarily influenced by rainfall. If the weather improves, it is hoped that water will be safe for swimming,» she added.
According to Klimchuk, bathing in water is threatened by infectious diseases.
«This intestinal infection. And if the adult can just splash in the water, and then wash it off under the shower, then the baby can swallow this water. Then the threat of getting sick is much more,» she continued.
Studies of water quality in the Prut river are held every ten days.
However, according to Klimchuk, in the Chernivtsi region there are 8 beaches where you can swim.
We will remind, according to the Institute of colloid chemistry and water chemistry of NAS of Ukraine, on the territory of the country there is not a clean river.
