In Australia, the eagles shot down the drones defending its territory

Mining company Gold Fields said it lost nine drones for the eagles, who are guarding their territory. The company acquired the Trimble UX5 drones to map the area for further mining, writes BirdInFlight.

«During the flight, one drone crashed because of operator error, and another nine were shot down by Chinese eagles. When you see birds flying drone, the company says, they think that the unit encroached on their territory, and attacking him. The Chinese eagles twice as heavy drones (weigh up to five kilograms) and have a wingspan twice (to 2.3 meters)», — stated in the publication.

Employees tried to save the drones with protective coloring to the eagles took them for birds. But it didn’t help, and the attacks of birds continued. One of them grabbed the eagle flying machine and took his camera from another eagle, which also attacked the drone.

Each drone costs about 7.3 thousand of dollars (camera twice), has a meter long wingspan, flies at an altitude of 125 meters and at a speed of 80 kilometers per hour. To control the machine, employees had to undergo a five-day training course.

Recall that Australia was the first country in the world has enacted laws for drones.
