Human rights activists hope for a speedy consideration of the ECHR cases of human rights violations in Crimea

Human rights activists hope that in the near future the European court of human rights (ECHR) will begin substantive review of cases of violation of human rights in the Crimea, reports «Interfax-Ukraine».

«We have about a dozen cases in the European court of human rights. They already passed the first phase. All of them have already been assigned rooms, and we expect in the near future the consideration of cases in fact,» — said the lawyer of the center of strategic Affairs of the Ukrainian Helsinki Union on human rights Anastasia Martynov at a press conference on Friday in Kiev.

In turn, the lawyer of the Crimean Muslims and political prisoners occupied Crimea Emil Kurbedinov predicts that violations of human rights in Crimea by the occupying authorities will continue.

«The prognosis is not good. We believe that this repression (against the Crimean Tatars in the occupied Russian Federation Crimea — ed.) will be strengthened. And if you do not increase, it will continue in the same direction. Will bring criminal case under articles of terrorism and extremism,» said Kurbedinov.

Earlier it was reported that in the Crimea are continuing disappearances, searches, detention, arrest, illegal trial, criminal case on false pretexts. This was stated by Deputy head of Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people Ilmi Umerov. And the Prosecutor’s office is investigating 88 cases of human rights violations in the Crimea.
