The Swedish armed forces has suffered a massive cyber attack that led to the shutdown of the system of planning military exercises. This reports Dagens Nyheter.
According to the publication, the cyber attack was aimed at computer system Caxcis responsible for the planning exercises. In the incident, the system had to shut down.
The fact of the massive cyber attacks, and system shutdown was confirmed in the Ministry of defence of the country.
The defense Ministry said that is not yet established who was behind the attack. Further comment from the Ministry of defence of Sweden refused, and was not informed about the time of the attack.
Now the system planning exercises is disabled.
The publication notes that the cyber attack and system shutdown occurred at a time when armed forces conduct training and planning for upcoming exercises «Aurora 17».
In these large military exercises to be held in September, will involve the whole Swedish army, more than 19 000 military.
Exercises should be the largest for more than 20 years. The exercises will be attended by the military of Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Norway, Germany and the United States.
In a press-service of the Ministry of defence of Sweden refused to comment on how a system failure will affect the training exercises.
The Swedish armed forces confirmed the hacking protection system connection to the Internet «Charon». However, according to the official representative of the Ministry of defense, this system is outdated and its planned replacement.
