Groisman stands for open party lists for the next elections

Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman believes a fundamental issue to determine the model of the electoral system in the next parliamentary elections. He stated this at a briefing in Kiev on 28 February, reports the correspondent of the edition «GORDON».

«Open lists of parliamentary parties will be well perceived from the point of view of political structure and responsibility the Parliament, and on the other hand, the majority system will also be able to work», – said the Prime Minister.

He stressed that the parliamentary and presidential elections must begin to prepare now.

«I said from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada, I would like to minimize any influence, dealing, and buying votes, as it greatly distorts the choice of the people, and then very expensive for ordinary people,» – said Groisman.

He confirmed that he intends to participate in parliamentary elections.

«While it’s difficult to say about the format of my participation, but I do know that I will walk openly and honestly with like minded people and fight for values, not for some other things», – concluded the head of government.

According to the Constitution of Ukraine, elections are conducted on the last Sunday of October of the fifth year of powers of the Parliament. Previous, extraordinary elections to the Verkhovna Rada took place in 2014.

The next elections of Parliament and President of Ukraine should take place in 2019.
