GPU: indications Yanukovych is negligible, it has been caught in lies

The Prosecutor of GPU Alexey Donskoy said that the interrogation of ex-President Viktor Yanukovych showed that his testimony is null and void, and he repeatedly lied. He said this to journalists during the break of the court session.

«As we expected, he did not answer specific questions. We had to prove we did it, the insignificance of the testimony that he provided free presentation. He couldn’t exactly explain any of the circumstances of those events which are subject to consideration in court» — quoted by UNIAN.

He also added that the prosecution is not satisfied that, owing to time constraints, questioning, failed to ask the most questions, as well as the fact that some of the questions the charges were dropped by the court.

Saying that Yanukovych caught in a lie during an interrogation, don gave examples of when one in particular, «gave a false answer about the absence of contact with Medvedchuk, who established the consequence of both direct and circumstantial evidence».

«We also have not heard a response regarding the letter about the invasion, and it’s very important for us, since the letter and the shooting of people on independence square — the links of one chain.

Also Yanukovych told a lie that he met with Surkov. They met in «mezhigorye», and we know about the specific timing of this meeting,» — said the Prosecutor.

However, Donskoy added that testimony today, Yanukovych can’t be used in other criminal cases where he appears as a suspect, not as a witness.

We will remind, today the Svyatoshinsky regional court of Kiev Yanukovych questioned as a witness in the case against five ex-«berkutovets», accused in the shooting of Maidan activists in February 2014.

As reported, Yanukovych is now hiding from the Ukrainian justice in Russia.
