Gorbatyuk: If Lutsenko understood why he got thrown in jail, this system of control the General Prosecutor’s office, he would be destroyed. But it continues to exist

Currently, the General Prosecutor of Ukraine is not ruled by law, the Director of the Department of special investigations of the Prosecutor General Sergei Gorbatyuk. He said this on air of the program «BATMAN» editor-in-chief of the edition «GORDON» Alesya Batsman on the channel «112 Ukraine».

Answering the question whether he agrees with what the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuri Lutsenko is acting as a politician, Mr. Yan said: «Indeed, there are many indications that in his speeches, words and actions is politics».

According to the Gorbatyuk, in their speeches, Lutsenko often recalls the period when he was behind bars.

«He always says in his speeches, he always remembers what has occurred as occurred, and (claims. – «GORDON») that this is to guard against any violations. At the same time, I think if he understood why he got thrown in jail, then this system of control the General Prosecutor’s office, he would be destroyed. But it continues to exist: it is manual mode (control. – «GORDON»), depending on the whims of certain political circles of certain groups. Today in the Prosecutor General’s office is not ruled by law, in my opinion,» said the Director of the Department of special investigations of the GPU.

28 Jan 2010 Lutsenko, who then held the post of Minister of internal Affairs of Ukraine, was detained. Two years later, in February of 2012, he was sentenced to four years imprisonment with confiscation of property. The Pechersky district court of Kiev found Lutsenko guilty of abuse of power, misuse of public money and the allocation of the apartment to his driver.

In the summer of 2012, the European court of human rights recognized Lutsenko’s arrest illegal and politically motivated. In April of 2013 Lutsenko was pardoned by decree of then President Viktor Yanukovych. March 20, 2014, after the victory of Euromaidan, the Pechersk court reversed all judgments against Lutsenko, having redeemed him as a political prisoner.
