German voters are equally supported by Merkel and Schulz

Former President of the European Parliament and the new leader of the social Democrats , Martin Schulz, in the case of direct election of the Chancellor would have received the same number of votes as the leader of the Christian Democrats Angela Merkel. This is evidenced by the sociological survey commissioned by public television ARD.

In the case of direct elections Schulz and Merkel would receive 41% of the vote.

Compared to the survey last month, the Schultz’s rating rose 5 points, while Merkel lost 2 points.

Note that the Chancellor elected by the Bundestag.

The survey data also show that 64% of Germans reacted positively to the news that Schultz will be the candidate in chancellors from the SPD. Only 14% were strongly opposed.

A survey among the members of the SPD showed that 81% of them support the decision to nominate Schulz, the candidate of the party, and only 4% voted against.

We will remind, Vice-Chancellor of Germany Sigmar Gabriel will not fight for the post of Chancellor and will leave the post of leader of the Social democratic party. Instead, the rival of Merkel in the struggle for an armchair of the Chancellor will be Schultz.

Schultz at the end of last year has declared that leaves the post of President of the European Parliament, to run for the Bundestag in the autumn and to apply for the post of Chancellor from the Social democratic party of Germany.
