German foreign Minister: there should be no new ice age between Russia and the West

Between Russia and the West should not be a new «ice age», said the Minister of foreign Affairs of Germany, Sigmar Gabriel after a meeting with the head of the State Department of the United States Rex Tillerson on August 29, the press service of the foreign Ministry Gremanii.

«There should be a new ice age between Russia and the West,» said Gabriel, speaking about the introduction of new anti-Russian sanctions of the United States.

According to him, the US and Europe should cooperate for this.

The Minister of foreign Affairs of Germany also called on his us counterpart to continue to work on a sustainable truce in Ukraine.

Against Russia were involved in economic sanctions by the United States, the European Union and some other countries in the spring of 2014, after Russia annexed the Ukrainian Peninsula of Crimea and military aggression in Eastern Ukraine. The sanctions packages several times expanded and tightened.

On 2 August President of the United States trump has signed the law on new sanctions against Russia, North Korea and Iran.

The document reduces the maximum term of market financing of Russian banks under sanctions, up to 14 days, and for the oil and gas sector – up to 30 days. Also, the President of the United States may apply sanctions to persons who intend to invest in the construction of Russian export pipelines over $5 million a year or $1 million lump sum.

The law obliges the President of the United States subject to confirmation by Congress of any mitigation or cancellation of sanctions. The White house will not be able to remove the restrictive measures on the personal orders, as it was before.
