«Freedom» will nominate its candidate for the election of the mayor of Krivoy Rog

The Congress of the party «all-Ukrainian Association «Freedom», which took place on Tuesday in Kyiv, supported the candidacy of Oleg Boychenko on a post of the mayor of Krivoy Rog in the elections on 27 March, reported Radio Liberty.

According to the party, Oleg Boychenko — the activist of «Freedom», leader of «self-Defense Kryvbas», the Director of the private enterprise.

Party leader Oleg Tyagnibok said that «Freedom» «has a goal to advance to the second round and win in Kryvyi Rih».

As reported, the Kryvyi Rih municipal electoral Committee according to the results of the second round of elections of mayor, which took place on 15 November, announced the winner of the representative of «Opposition block» Yuriy Vilkul. According to information posted on the CEC website, he received 89 of 209 votes, and his opponent, the representative of the «Samopomochi» Yuri Milobog — 88 457 votes.

Milobog said about fraud and challenged the results in courts. However, the courts rejected his claims.

At the same time Vilkul was officially announced by the mayor at a meeting of the newly elected city Council.

23 December 2015, the Verkhovna Rada voted for the overall bill No. 3613 on holding early elections on March 27, Kryvyi Rih mayor, then in the Parliament was submitted a draft resolution on cancellation of this decision, rejected on January 26. On the same day the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Vladimir Groysman signed the law on assigning the extraordinary elections of the mayor of Krivoy Rog, on 27 March.

30 January, President Petro Poroshenko signed the Law «On elections of the mayor of Krivoy Rog», adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on December 23, 2015.

Because a new election is defined as extraordinary, Vilkul will be considered a legitimate mayor of Krivoy Rog.
