Freedom House in its annual report «freedom in the world in 2017. Populists and autocrats: the Dual threat to global democracy», published Tuesday, has called Russia the country, most often in the world encroach on political and civil liberties. The message and the report is posted on the international human rights organization.
«…Russia intervened in the political processes in the United States and other democratic States, increased military support to the dictatorial regime of Bashar al-Assad in Syria and has consolidated its illegal occupation of the territory of Ukraine», – stated in the annual report of Freedom House.
It is also emphasized that in Russia the authorities have narrowed the space for political opposition and expression of society disagrees. As in previous reports, Freedom House, Russia is recognized as a non-free country. According to these indicators, it is in the same group with such countries as Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Iran, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

Region of Eurasia as a whole «is divided into democratically-oriented and autocratic countries», – the report says. Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova «are struggling to maintain the fragile democratic gains of recent years», but Freedom House warns that this progress can come to naught if the West will reduce the support of these countries.
As for the group of countries that Freedom House refers to the autocracies, such as Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan last year was «made steps to strengthen the government in terms of economic and political uncertainty.»
To reduce the freedom in the world was influenced by a democratic country. The report says that the largest democratic state «are covered by anxiety and indecision after such events as the failure of the UK membership in the European Union, the increase in the popularity of extreme right-wing xenophobic parties in Europe and the victory of Donald trump in the presidential election in the United States.»
Earlier, Freedom House ranked Ukraine as partly free countries. Each country human rights defenders is evaluated by two criteria (the level of political rights and civil liberties) on a scale from 1 to 7, where 1 is the best indicator, and 7 is the worst. Ukraine, as a year ago, got 3 points for both criteria (partly free).
In addition, Freedom House reported that the level of media freedom in the world for 2015 fell to its lowest level in 12 years, Russia became the «innovator of modern government propaganda».
