Founding countries of the EU support the «ever closer Union»

The founding of the EU share common solutions to the current global conflicts — such as the migration crisis and the threat of terrorist attacks, according to politicians, the answer to this can only be an «ever closer Union». This is stated in the joint statement of the foreign Ministers of Germany, France, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg, released on Tuesday, February 9, writes dw.com.

Also the statement contains the assertion that the Union countries is the «best response» to current challenges.

Along with this, the Ministers recognized the legitimacy of the existence of a «Europe of two speeds»: the EU allows for «different paths to integration.»

Currently, among other things, actively discussed the future of the UK in the EU. Prime Minister David Cameronis expected this year to be available for public referendum on continued membership in the EU.

During the upcoming EU summit, which will take place on 18-19 February in Brussels, Cameron hopes to get the green light on previously agreed reforms. Among other opportunities of national parliaments to block unwelcome laws coming from Brussels.

We will remind, on Wednesday, 3 February, the European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said that he considers reasonable proposals made by the EU in the UK within the last continued membership in the European Union.

«The proposed solution is fair and in relation to the United Kingdom, and in respect of the other 27 member States,» said Juncker in Strasbourg.

Monday, February 2, the head of the European Council Donald Tusk announced proposals for legislative reforms in the European Union, which required the UK. They will be considered at the EU summit on 18-19 February. Before they can be implemented, they must approve all EU member States.

A referendum on maintaining Britain’s membership in the EU should take place no later than the end of 2017.
