Russia should be guided by the principles of the rule of law to become part of the civilized world. This is stated in the statement of the oppositional «Forum of free Russia», published on the website of the movement.
«It is impossible to build a state of law, while ignoring the more justifying the illegal actions committed by authorities of the Russian Federation in relation to other States», – the document says.
The opposition has put forward the Russian authorities five requirements, part of which was referred to the Ukraine.
«Immediately to stop military aggression against sovereign States and to withdraw units of the Russian armed forces from all the occupied territories included, in accordance with international law, in Georgia and Ukraine», – is told in the first paragraph requirements.
Ukraine is mentioned in paragraph number three.
«Recognize null and void all acts related to exclusion from the Ukraine and annexation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and city of Sevastopol, with the recognition of the «statehood» of the so-called «Republic of Abkhazia» and «Republic of South Ossetia», as well as the informal legitimization of the so-called «Luhansk and Donetsk national republics», – is written in the document.
«Forum of free Russia» demanded to stop any aid to the separatists operating in the territory of the countries of the former Soviet Union and other countries of the world.
The opposition also stated the need to prosecute those involved in war crimes in the territories of neighboring States, and called for the introduction in the criminal code norm about punishment for interference in the internal Affairs of sovereign States.
The appeal as to 22.00 today, was signed by 209 people, including a Russian economist and former adviser to the Russian President Andrey Illarionov, the former world chess champion Garry Kasparov, the lawyer mark Feigin and others.
In may 2017 Congress of the Russian opposition «Forum of free Russia» said that the Kremlin’s aggression against Ukraine is an international crime.
Russia annexed Crimea after the illegal referendum on 16 March 2014. The annexation of Crimea by Russia is not recognised by Ukraine and most countries of the world. In the moment between mainland Ukraine and the Crimea there is an access control regime, and Kiev de facto controls the Peninsula.
The armed conflict in Eastern Ukraine began in April 2014. Fighting underway between the Armed forces of Ukraine and Pro-Russian rebels who control part of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
