Former permanent representative of Ukraine to the United Nations Sergeyev retired

Ukrainian diplomat Yuriy Sergeyev, from 2007 to 2015 served as the permanent representative of Ukraine to the UN wrote a letter of retirement.

«Friends, everything has its beginning and end. Today I decided to write an application for retirement after many years dipkuryer», — he wrote on Twitter.

«In the end, Ukraine can serve in different ways,» he added.

Yuriy Sergeyev was born on 5 February 1956. He studied at the Kiev higher combined arms school. Frunze, graduated from the Kiev state University. T. Shevchenko (1981), philologist and teacher. Candidate of philological Sciences, associate Professor. Speak foreign languages: English, Russian, French.

To work in the foreign Ministry of Ukraine began in 1992, when he became head of the press center of the Ukrainian foreign Ministry. From 1997 to 2000 he was Ambassador of Ukraine in Greece and Albania, part-time, after which he returned to Kiev, where in 2001 he worked in the presidential administration and appointed first Deputy Minister of foreign Affairs.

From 3 March 2003 to 18 April 2007 was Ukraine’s Ambassador in France and permanent representative of Ukraine to UNESCO. From 18 April 2007 to 9 December 2015 was permanent representative of Ukraine to the UN.

In this position, Sergeyev was replaced by Volodymyr Yelchenko.
