Former member of the Sex Pistols, Lydon is going to participate in «Eurovision 2018»

The former frontman of the punk band Sex Pistols John Lydon, known as johnny rotten, is going to represent Ireland at the song contest «Eurovision 2018». He told this publication The Irish Sun.

«For me it would be a great honour to represent Ireland at the Eurovision song contest», – said the musician.

The song that contains elements of punk rock and country music, Pleased To Meet You, Lydon record with his band Public Image Limited.

The track will be forwarded to TV channel RTE, which deals with the selection of a participant from Ireland.

From 1975 to 1977, Lydon was the frontman and ideologue of the group the Sex Pistols. The band members nicknamed him «johnny rotten» – «johnny Rotten», referring to the state of his teeth.

In 1996, Lydon took part in the reunion of the Sex Pistols and went with a group tour, the band later went on tour in 2008.

The contest «Eurovision 2018» to be held in Lisbon from 8 to 12 may.

The victory of Portugal in the competition in 2017, which was held in Kiev, brought the singer Salvador Collected with the song Amar Pelos Dois.
