In the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine registered a draft law on quotas for Ukrainian song in the air music radio stations, said Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of culture of Ukraine Vyacheslav Kirilenko.
«The draft law on quotas for Ukrainian song in the air music radio stations registered in the Verkhovna Rada,» Kirilenko wrote on his Twitter page on Friday, January 29.
As reported on the official website of the Ukrainian Parliament, the bill «On amendments to the law of Ukraine «On television and radio broadcasting» (regarding the share of songs in the state language in radio programmes and music radio programmes)» (No. 3822в) was registered on 27 January 2016.
The authors of the draft law made by people’s deputies Oleg Medunitsa (faction «national front»), Igor artyushenko (fraction «Block of Petro Poroshenko»), Ivan krulko (Batkivshchyna) and Oleh Lyashko (Radical party faction).
According to the explanatory Memorandum, the bill proposes to add to part 1 of article 9 a new paragraph that sets requirements for the minimum volume of musical works of Ukrainian authors and performers and including songs in the Ukrainian language on Ukrainian radio stations.
In particular, it is proposed to determine that in the musical radio programs and radio broadcasts of works by Ukrainian authors and performers should constitute no less than 50% of the total daily volume of broadcasting, and share songs (verbal-musical work) in the state language should be not less than 75% of the total volume of the songs of Ukrainian authors or performers. Radioorganization must ensure compliance with this ratio evenly during the entire airtime.
In this regard, it is proposed to delete the third paragraph of part 4 of article 28 of the current edition of the law, which defines the requirements for music programs, which differ from the proposed one.
Earlier, Kirilenko has proposed to revoke the licenses of Ukrainian radio stations because of the lack of Ukrainian content.
