After the Supreme court of the Russian Federation of the decision to ban the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, for every meeting of the Majlis to open a criminal case.

This was announced by Deputy head of the Mejlis Ilmi Umerov, reports «Interfax-Ukraine».

«The decision of the Supreme court of the Russian Federation on a ban of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people… Despite the fact that we do not recognize this decision, despite the fact that the Majlis is not a public organization is an elected representative body of the Crimean Tatars, for every meeting we will now open criminal proceedings. Until that time, it was limited to small fines for participation in a banned organization,» he said.

Recall, 29 September 2016, the Supreme court finally upheld the ban the activities of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatars on the territory of Russia and the annexed Crimea as «extremist» organization.

On 28 September the Russian invaders have admitted 59-year-old Ilmi Umerov «guilty» part in the meeting of the Majlis and demanded that he pay a fine in the amount of 750 rubles.

Umerov said that the decision of the court on prohibition of the Majlis does not apply to the territory of Crimea.
