The special representative of the OSCE in the Trilateral contact group on settling the situation in Donbas Martin Sajdik said that concerned about the serious consequences for the population, which since December 1, are threatened by lack of payment of water supply in Luhansk region.
He said this at a briefing following the meeting of the Trilateral contact group in Minsk, which was broadcast on the TV channel «112 Ukraine».
«Was reiterated concern over the situation with the supply of electricity and water. I have personally addressed the participants of the Minsk process with the request to urgently solve the issue of water supply in Luhansk region. This issue remains unresolved because of a lack of commitment to structurally solve the problem of payments,» said Sidik.
«Today I have repeatedly drawn attention to the serious consequences for the population of the approach of the parties from 1 December», — he added.
Also, according to him, «in the working group on humanitarian issues were discussed in detail release of persons detained in connection with the conflict in the first place – the liberation of the sick and wounded, children and women.» In addition, the issues of search of missing persons.
«I would be happy to point out the fact that the Ukrainian side has increased the rules for cargo transportation by the civilian population from 50 kg to 75 kg one person at the moment of crossing of border crossing point (on the frontline). Positive is also envisaged increase in the number of employees at the checkpoints on the Ukrainian side,» — said Sajdik.
Earlier today, the Ukrainian representative in the humanitarian working group of the Trilateral contact group on settling the situation in the Donbass Irina Gerashchenko said that Ukraine in the negotiations in Minsk urged Russia not to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe in the Donbass and to pay the debts for water supply.
Today in the Ministry for the temporarily occupied territories and internally displaced persons of Ukraine said that more than 500 thousand residents of Lugansk region can remain without water for non-payment of the «LPR» in the water.
