Elisha said that the final Declaration of the summit Ukraine – EU was unable to accept due to lack of consensus

Final Declaration of the summit Ukraine – EU, held in Kiev, was not adopted for lack of consensus. This broadcast «5 channel» said Deputy head of the presidential administration of Ukraine Konstantin Eliseev.

«I’m a little not satisfied that everyone is paying attention, was or was not the final document, the Declaration. However, attempts have been made to work out a joint document is the normal situation when there is no consensus. In this case, the draft policy document, unfortunately, did not go beyond those ambitions, which are incorporated in the text of the Association Agreement», – he said.

Yeliseyev noted that since the draft final Declaration failed to capture more than short-sighted goals, the parties «decided to concentrate on more specific results, those specific steps that will allow Ukrainian citizens to obtain all the benefits from European integration».

July 12 Official journal of the European Union issued a decision on the final ratification of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU.

July 13, the «European Pravda» reported that Ukraine insisted that in the final joint statement was a reference to a phrase from the preamble of the Association Agreement that the EU «recognises Ukraine’s European aspirations and welcomes its European choice». However, the representatives of the European Union with the wording not agreed on what became known after the informal meeting of the President of Petro Poroshenko with EU leaders on July 12.

Poroshenko, the head of the European Council Donald Tusk and European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker at a joint press conference didn’t mention the final official statement, which is usually considered an integral part of the summits of the EU with other States.
