The production company of the brothers Harvey and Robert Vistanow going to declare bankruptcy because of the failure of negotiations on sale. About The Weinstein Company said on 25 February, reports The New York Times.

«Although we recognize that this is a very bad outcome for our employees, our creditors and any victims, the Board had no choice,» the company said.

It was expected that the group of investors will acquire The Weinstein Company for $500 million, of which $225 million will go to pay the debt.

The publication notes that one of the reasons for unsuccessful completion of the negotiations was a lawsuit of the attorney General of the state of new York Eric Schneiderman to the company. Schneiderman stressed that any agreement for the sale of the company should guarantee the payment of compensation to victims from the actions of Weinstein.

In early October of 2017, the newspaper The New York Times published an investigation about sexual harassment Weinstein in relation to Actresses and subordinates, which, according to the newspaper, lasted for several decades.

Actress Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow, Cara Delevingne, Asia Argento, Ashley Judd, rose McGowan, Lucia Stoller, Mira Sorvino, Rosanna Arquette stated that he knew or had experienced sexual harassment by Weinstein.

According to the New York Post, about 100 women have accused the producer of harassment or rape.
