Consumption of coal in the Ukrainian thermal power plants in 2015 has reduced by a third compared with the previous year to 27 million tons, said the Minister of energy and coal industry Volodymyr demchyshyn during a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on fuel and energy complex, nuclear policy and nuclear safety, transfers UNIAN.
«The heat generation has decreased, the demand for coal has dropped from 38 million tons to 27 million tons,» — said demchyshyn.
According to him, last year there was a tendency of increasing use in thermal power plants coal gas brand, since anthracite coal in Ukraine remains scarce. According to the Minister, the share of consumption of coal gas in the country last year was at the level of 65-70%, while in 2014 the ratio of use of coal of gas group and was equal to anthracite. However, the Minister expressed hope that this year the demand for coal will increase due to increase of electricity export.
Also Demchyshyn reported that zmiivska thermal power plant is undergoing modernization, after which the two power stations will be converted to gas with anthracite coal. According to the Minister, this will increase the demand for gas and coal for 1.8 million tons per year.
As reported, according to Demchishin, Ukraine by April of the current year, intends to resume a previously stopped because of shortage of coal the export of electricity to Belarus and Moldova and delivery to Lithuania. Ukraine has already held talks.
Against the background of shortage of coal for thermal power plants of Ukraine for 2015 has reduced foreign exchange earnings from power exports by 3.2 times compared to the previous year – to 150,1 million. with 487,2 million.
The Ukrainian electricity exports are the DTEK company of Rinat Akhmetov, «Donbassenergo», the «Zakarpattyaoblenergo» and «the ERA of trading».
