Britain does not want to perform after Brexit taken in the framework of the EU financial commitments to Ukraine negotiator

Britain said in talks with the European Union that does not want to comply with the financial obligations in relation to third countries, including Ukraine, after the exit from the EU. This was stated by chief negotiator for EU talks on Brexit Michel Barnier at a press conference in Brussels, reports «European true».

«Britain has made it clear that their obligations are limited to the most recent contribution to the EU budget to exit the block. But we still have obligations to third countries. For example, we together guaranteed long term loans for Ukraine,» – said Barnier.

He also recalled that the EU has pledged to support projects of innovative technologies and green energy by 2020, but Britain was not bound to participate in them at the end of the legal procedure of secession from the Union.

According to Barnier, the 27 countries taxpayers should not take on additional expenses for commitments made by 28 countries.

He also said that this week in the third round of negotiations between the EU and Britain, there has been little progress.

Brussels insists that before moving on to other issues, it is necessary to achieve progress in rights of EU citizens in the UK, the Irish border and compensation for the output of the United Kingdom from the European Union.

A referendum on British exit from the EU was held on 23 June 2016. According to the results, 51.9% of Britons voted for the country’s withdrawal from the community of 48.1% – wanted to remain in the EU.

The official procedure of withdrawal of Britain from the EU was launched on 29 March 2017 and will take about two years.

19 June in Brussels began negotiations for a Brexit.
