The Verkhovna Rada refused to vote in General for the draft amendments to the law on public prosecution as amended, which provided for the extension of the powers of the Prosecutor General Shokina in part on the Special anti-corruption Prosecutor’s office — law voted for the base. Deputies spoke against the proposed amendments allow the attorney General twice to reject the candidacy of his Deputy — head of the SAP.

The deputies proposed or make additional edits, which outlined the reasons why the attorney General can reject the nomination. So, on the proposal of the MP from the PPO Yuriy Lutsenko, «candidates may be rejected in case applicants fail to comply with the law on cleansing of power, if there is no admission to the state secret, or if he’s corrupt».
However, the deputies refused to support such a proposal. Thus, the law will be considered on Thursday, February 18. Until Wednesday, February 17, members must submit amendments.
Earlier, the European Union expressed concern about the amendments to the law «On Prosecutor’s office», and believes that they will destroy the independence of the anticorruption Prosecutor’s office.
The national anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine was established on March 3, 2015.
On 16 April the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko after the preliminary competition has appointed 35-year-old lawyer Artem Sytnik , Director of the Bureau.
In may, the NEB opened the competition to recruit the first 100 detectives. The winners in the contest were 70 people. On 1 October they went to work.
