Bogolyubov requires Ukraine to compensate for the nationalization of «PrivatBank»

Former co-owner of «Privat» Gennady Bogolyubov requires the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of compensation for «unlawful expropriation» of its share in the Bank. This is stated in its notice to the government of Ukraine from November 6, according to «Ukrainian news».

The businessman put forward their demands as a British citizen. He refers to the bilateral investment Treaty (BIT) between the United Kingdom and Ukraine, aims to protect foreign investors in Ukraine.

According to Bogolyubov, Ukraine led a successful coordinated media campaign to destabilize the situation with «PrivatBank», which was followed by its nationalization.

He said the total amount of the claims, but in case of failure promises to appeal to the independent arbitration Tribunal.

According to a government decision of December 18, 2016, the state of 100% became the owner of «PrivatBank».

According to the Ukrainian Forbes, the main shareholders of the «PrivatBank» Igor Kolomoisky and Gennady Bogolyubov in one night lost $240 million on two.

2 July 2017, the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine published a letter of the former key shareholders of the «PrivatBank» Kolomoisky and Bogolyubov to Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Groisman asking to nationalize the Bank, which dates back to 16 December 2016.
