Astrophysicists have found a source of gravitational waves – in the constellation of the whale or Fish

Astrophysics, working with the telescope «Fermi», have discovered a place where there were two black holes, the merger of which gave rise to the recently discovered gravitational waves.

Also was recorded a weak gamma-ray burst that occurred during this event, said in an article posted on the NASA website.

Predicted by albert Einstein’s gravitational waves, as stated on 11 February physics, were detected by the detectors LIGO 14 September 2015. They were generated by a pair of merging black holes whose mass is 29, and 36 times bigger than the sun, at a distance of 1.3 billion light years from Earth.

For a split second about three solar masses into gravitational waves, the maximum radiation power was about 50 times greater than that of the entire visible Universe.

This event, named GW150914-GBM, occurred approximately in the constellation of the whale or Fish. Sorry, more accurately calculate the coordinates of the black holes until it is impossible, as the main instrument of «Fermi» – a telescope LAT – began to look at the flash only an hour after she «caught» LIGO.

«Fermi» has recorded a similar trace merging black holes, the outburst in the hard x-ray and gamma radiation, which occurred in approximately 0.4 seconds after the gravitational waves have passed through our planet.

Range of this outbreak, as the authors say, was too hard for she was born magnetars, supernovae of the first type or pulsars, and therefore its source, most likely, were indeed merging black holes.
