The current Chairman of the Organization for security and cooperation in Europe and Minister for foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier urged to bring to justice the persons who shot down an unmanned aerial vehicle Special monitoring mission of the OSCE and shot in the direction of the observer.

This is stated in the statement of Stimer published on the website of the OSCE, UNIAN reports.

«With great concern I learned that today shots were fired in the direction of the patrol of the Special monitoring mission near the contact line, and the SMM unmanned aerial vehicle long-range was shot down near Gorlovka. Such armed attacks on civilian, unarmed monitoring mission of the OSCE in Ukraine is completely unacceptable,» the statement said Steinmeier.

In this regard, he said that such cases pose more serious obstacles to the work of the SMM, given the breakdowns of the Supervisory cameras of the OSCE mission in the Donetsk airport area.

According to Steinmeier, such actions undermine joint efforts on the sustainable strengthening of the ceasefire regime.

«For this reason I call on all parties to adhere to what was agreed. All parties must fully ensure the safety and security of SMM monitors and provide them with unrestricted access to all conflict zones. Persons who have been guilty of attacks on the mission, should bear responsibility», — said Steinmeier.

The OSCE Chairman also said that the establishment of a sustainable ceasefire is urgent and is of paramount importance to ensure progress in the implementation of the Minsk agreements.

In addition, the Chairman of the Special monitoring mission of the Organization for security and cooperation in Europe , Ertugrul Apakan condemns the violence against observers of OSCE. As stated on the website of the OSCE, head of the SMM in Ukraine has expressed concern in connection with two incidents of violence that observers were subjected to danger and prevented the mission to effectively monitor the situation in the conflict-ridden Eastern Ukraine.

The report States that the SMM patrol came under small arms fire during a foot patrol in the area of Avdeevka-Yasinovataya in the Donetsk region. No member of the patrol was injured. Also today was shot down by the SMM unmanned aerial vehicle long-range during the execution of the mission, «DPR» — controlled Horlivka.

In this regard, Apakan stated: «I strongly condemn the violence against our staff and property, which are used for objective and unbiased information about the situation in Ukraine. Freedom of movement of SMM is guaranteed by its mandate and provided Minsk Complex of measures, intervention in the work of the mission is a grave violation».

Apakan also encouraged parties to respond to both incidents and bring the perpetrators to justice.

«Such violence against the SMM is invalid. We must put an end to the impunity of people who threaten, are rude or attacking SMM or violate her freedom of movement», — said the head of the observation mission.

As reported in a press-the ATO headquarters said that today at about 9.45 am in the airspace near Gorlovka the Russian militants occupying forces shot down an unmanned aerial vehicle of the OSCE mission that monitored to control the regime of non-use of weapons along the line of differentiation of the parties.

Later first Deputy Chairman of the OSCE SMM Alexander hug said that the patrol mission today came under fire from small arms in the area Yasinovataya and Avdeyevka.
