Amnesty International published a report about mass executions in Syrian prisons

In the Syrian Saydnaya military prison near Damascus for several years, was hanged thousands of prisoners says Amnesty International.

In its report, released in Berlin on Tuesday, 7 February, says that from 2011 to 2015 in this prison were executed between 5 thousand to 13 thousand people, mostly civilians, reports «Interfax-Ukraine».

«To this we must add thousands more died from torture and inhuman conditions of detention,» — said the Secretary General of the Amnesty office in Germany Markus BEKO.

Such massive systematic violations of human rights BEKO regarded as a crime against humanity.

The report is based on information received from 84 witnesses and experts, including prison guards, representatives of the authorities, former inmates, judges and lawyers.

According to human rights activists, the death sentences imposed by a military Tribunal in a few minutes, and the recognition of prisoners, as a rule, extorted by means of torture.

Amnesty International appealed to the UN to investigate reports of mass executions in Syria.

Earlier, the international organization Freedom House published the report «Freedom in the world in 2017.»
