AMC is ready through the courts to force Gazprom to pay 85 billion UAH for violation of the Antimonopoly legislation

The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine is ready to go to court and through the court to force the Russian gas monopolist company «Gazprom» to pay imposed on the company in January of this year, a fine of 85 billion UAH for violation of the Antimonopoly legislation of Ukraine. This was during a press conference said the head of the Committee Yuriy Terentyev, writes UNIAN.

Terentyev said that «Gazprom» tried all ways to challenge the decision on the penalty and currently continues his judicial activity.

«However, there is a decision of the AMC, the penalty is imposed, the decision must be made. If it is not done, we will go to court» — said Terentyev.

He also stressed that the materials appeal to the court is ready, but the exact date of filing the claim yet. At the same time, Terentyev did not rule out certain technical and legal complexities that will be associated with the execution of such a decision, but stressed the right of the Committee to defend insist on the implementation of its decisions by all economic entities.

As reported, in January of this year the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine gave the Russian gas monopolist «Gazprom» fine 85 billion (about $ 3.4 billion.) for abuse of a monopoly position in the domestic market of gas transit. The decision was made in the framework of the order of the government, and in light of the formal charges of the European Commission, put forward «Gazprom» in connection with its dominant market position in Central and Eastern Europe, in violation of the Antimonopoly legislation of the EU.

12 of April of current year «Gazprom» has decided to challenge this decision, filing a lawsuit in the Economic court of Kiev. However, the court rejected the claim of the Russian monopoly.
