Ambassadors of Ukraine in 17 States – Ministry of foreign Affairs

As of January 2018 ambassadors of Ukraine in 17 foreign countries. This was reported in the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ukraine at the request of the Agency «Ukrainian news».

Since may 2009, Ukraine has no Ambassador in Ethiopia, August 2013 – Kazakhstan, April 2014 – in Switzerland, in may 2014 in Denmark and Montenegro, from June 2014 – Cuba, and from July 2014 in Algeria. From August 2015 vacant posts of ambassadors in Ireland and Armenia.

Ukrainian Ambassador to Russia Volodymyr Yelchenko was dismissed in December 2015.

In 2017, the year has released the post of Ambassador of Ukraine in Greece, Latvia, Peru, Croatia, Kyrgyzstan, Estonia and South Africa.

Ambassadors in foreign countries are appointed and dismissed by the President upon the recommendation of the Minister of foreign Affairs, and the relevant decrees of the head of state attested by the signatures of the Prime Minister and Minister of foreign Affairs.

To the question, did the Minister of foreign Affairs Pavlo Klimkin, President Petro Poroshenko submitted for appointment of ambassadors in these countries, the foreign Ministry has not responded.

The foreign Ministry noted that the procedure for appointing ambassadors is long, because it requires selection of candidates, approval by the President, the expectations of the agrément of the receiving party and preparation of the decree.
