All 18 suspects in crimes against Ukrainian high-ranking officials of the Russian Federation will be judged in absentia.

The Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko in the coming weeks awaiting court decisions on the application of the procedure of conviction to all representatives of the Russian government and the leadership of the armed forces suspected of crimes against Ukraine.

About this Lutsenko said at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on national security and defence on Friday 2 September, UNIAN reports.

«Against all the suspects will be applied the procedure of conviction. The first decisions of the Ukrainian courts to do this, we have already received, I hope in the coming weeks to get them all the 18 suspects,» — said Lutsenko.

He said that all the suspects are put on the state wanted list in relation to all of them already have a court decision on the detention to the court and the election of a preventive measure.

According to Lutsenko, the GPU is aware that Russia’s leadership that started the war against Ukraine is unlikely to arrive in Kiev.

«We work with the office of the Prosecutor of the International criminal court on the issue of responsibility of the Russian leadership and representatives of their armed forces concerning the events in Eastern Ukraine and in Crimea», — said Lutsenko.

«When a citizen Glazyev wrote me a letter, disagreeing with suspicion, referring to a mythical Hague on the so-called «coup» in Ukraine, I can say one thing, grandpa Freud works. The Hague was mentioned in this letter. The choice of those who started the war against Ukraine, who are killing our soldiers and civilians, one — or Kyiv, or the Hague, there is no third way,» — said Lutsenko.

Recall, GPU reported about suspicion in Commission of serious crimes against the foundations of Ukraine’s national security and public security, peace and the international rule of law adviser to the Russian President Sergei Glazyev, the Minister of defence of the Russian Federation Sergei Shoigu, Deputy defence Minister Dmitry Bulgakov, chief of the General staff of the armed forces Valery Gerasimov and others, including 10 generals from among the high command of the armed forces.
