A virus masquerading as the Android app steals banking data of Ukrainians

A new banking Trojan steals user data devices running the Android operating system. About it reports a press-service of the Department of postal and telecommunications of Ukraine.

It is noted that the subject of this virus on the territory of Ukraine, and also Belarus and other CIS countries.

«It is worth noting that this Trojan is spreading fast and now the number of infected devices has more than 500 thousand, And according to experts every day their number increases by about 30-40 thousand,» – said in Kiev.

The virus is spreading, disguised as popular apps, such as «Vkontakte», «Odnoklassniki», Pokemon Go, Telegram and others. Built into the application code decrypts a file that was added by hackers in program resources, and runs it. Then running the file downloads from the control server the main part of the malicious code, which, in turn, contains links to download several malicious files.

As a result, the criminals get everything they need to steal the victim’s money. In particular, they can gain access to databases, browsers that contain information about the saved logins and passwords, history, cookies, and even saved Bank card data.
