A train derailed in South-East India: 36 dead

At least 36 people were killed and about 100 people were injured in the train crash in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh in the South-East of the country.

According to local authorities, 9 cars and a locomotive derailed near the station of Kuner in the district Vizianagaram, transmits Bi-Bi-si.

Many passengers on the train remain under the rubble, and rescuers fear that the death toll could increase.

The victims were taken to two nearby hospitals. The causes of the train accident is still unknown.

The crash happened on Saturday evening, the train going from Jagdalpur to Bhubaneswar, the administrative centre of Orissa.

Train accidents in India happen quite often, as the railway network of the country is in bad shape.
