8-th stage of the biathlon world Cup was moved from Tyumen in Kontiolahti

The eighth stage of the biathlon world Cup will take place in Finnish Kontiolahti.

This was reported on the website of the international biathlon Union, reports Shampion.

«The international biathlon Union has chosen a new venue for the eighth round of the world Cup. The competition will be held in Kontiolahti (Finland) from 6 to 12 March 2017″, — stated in the message.

Initially, the competition was held in Tyumen, but was postponed after a report by McLaren on doping in Russian sports.

Earlier it was reported that the international Olympic Committee has decided to extend sanctions against Russia, imposed for a doping scandal.

We will remind, the Czech Republic issued for the deprivation of Russia the right to host the biathlon tournaments, including world Cup this season and the world Cup 2021 and FIFA world Cup among juniors. This decision was supported by the Norwegian, canadian, American, and some other Federation.

So this year Junior world Championships biathlon will take place from 22 to 28 February in Russia, in the Slovak city of Osrblie.

Note that in 2017 Russia plans eight winter tournaments, which can be lifted and moved to another location in accordance with the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
