20.3 million Russians live below the poverty line – the audit chamber of the Russian Federation

Every seventh Russian lives below the poverty line. On the 22nd of Dec, speaking at the XVII Congress of the party «United Russia», said the head of the Russian audit chamber Tatyana Golikova, the press service of the Ministry.

«We fix, though not the same as it was before, in previous periods, the highest reduction in income, but still 1.4 percent is a fairly high rate. The number of citizens who are in poverty is 20.3 million people,» she said.

Golikova also noted that for the first nine months of 2017, the GDP growth in Russia amounted to 1.6%.

«Industrial production increased by 1.2%, but November showed a decline of 3.6 per cent», she acknowledged.

On 15 December the Central Bank of Russia said that the net outflow of capital from the country by the end of 2017 will be $29 billion.

Against Russia were involved in economic sanctions by the United States, the European Union and some other countries in the spring of 2014, after Russia annexed the Ukrainian Peninsula of Crimea and military aggression in Eastern Ukraine. The sanctions packages several times expanded and tightened.
